Your dual study program at a glance

How does the dual study program work?

During the dual study program, you will regularly alternate between theory and practice. You will attend courses at VICTORIA on two fixed days a week. Here, our professors and experts will teach you not only the basic areas of business administration, but also economics and law, methods of scientific work, foreign languages and intercultural skills in dialog-oriented teaching formats. You will spend the remaining three working days with your cooperation partner. This allows you to apply the knowledge you have learned directly in practice.
The standard period of study for a Bachelor’s degree in the dual study program is 6 semesters. A dual Master’s degree, on the other hand, can be completed in just 4 semesters.

What is the dual study program all about?

The combination of an academic education at the university and practical experience from a company will prepare you optimally for a successful career. You can learn and work in a real working environment, so that you are already familiar with the demands of professional life during your studies. In addition to a broad spectrum of knowledge, skills and abilities that you will acquire during your studies, you will also be able to make valuable professional contacts.

What does the dual study program cost you?

Your tuition fees are partially or fully covered by your partner company, so you can study for as little as €0 per month. It is best to find out about company-dependent cost coverage while you are searching for your cooperation partner. Of course, there are also numerous options for financial support for your studies. You can find more information on this in our information material. We would also be happy to advise you personally.

How do you find your cooperation company?

Don’t worry – we can also help you find your cooperation company at any time. You can access our large network of cooperation partners and select the company whose requirements match your strengths and wishes. We will then prepare your application together and provide you with helpful tips throughout the entire application process.
Do you already have a company in mind where you would like to complete the practical part of your dual study program? That’s no problem either. We will be happy to help you approach your dream company!

Any questions about the study program?

On which days do the courses take place?

In the dual study program and on-campus studies, the courses (20 hours per week) mainly take place on two fixed, consecutive weekdays: either Monday + Tuesday or Tuesday + Wednesday or Thursday + Friday. The exact study days are determined shortly before the start of the semester and communicated to new students. You can also complete both study models in flex-study and decide for yourself at any time whether you would like to attend courses on site or from any location.

Are there any bridge courses (e.g. in math) before I start my studies?

No bridge courses are currently offered at VICTORIA. If there is sufficient demand, such courses could possibly be offered in the future. As a rule, however, the Abitur / Fachabitur level is sufficient to enter the interdisciplinary courses and follow the lessons.

Are there tutoring courses (e.g. in math) during your studies?

Tutorials can be organized on request. Please contact the university management for this. Students can also form study groups with each other and contact their lecturers if they have any questions or problems. The lecturers or study organization staff can arrange external tutors if necessary.

Does the course include a stay abroad/semester abroad?

A stay abroad is currently not part of the curriculum of our degree programs with the exception of the B.A. International Management. However, you can complete a stay abroad (as a semester or internship abroad) as part of your studies within the framework of ERASMUS+ or via one of our partner universities abroad. For more detailed information, please contact our International Office.

The German-language degree programs Business Administration, Business Informatics and Business Management & Development do not include a stay abroad. However, if you would like to spend a semester abroad during your studies, you can apply for a semester off. If you would like to stay abroad for a longer period of time, you can also choose the Flex study program from the outset.

When can I change the study model?

You can change the study model within a degree program at the end of each semester, which may change your tuition fees (amount and/or transfer/self-payment). You can find the applicable tuition fees on the page of the relevant degree program. You can find an overview of all Bachelor’s degree programs here. An overview of all Master’s degree programs can be found here.

Will the duration of my studies be extended if I change model?

No, the models are coordinated in such a way that switching does not extend the duration of your studies.

What types of examinations/certificates of achievement are there?

Written examinations, presentations, seminar papers, term papers, practical work, business games, presentations, projects and (language) tests can be used as examinations during the course of study. The exact type of examination depends on the degree program and progress.

Any questions about cooperation partners?

Which companies does VICTORIA cooperate with?

You can find a selection of our cooperation companies above. Please note that this is only a reference list and does not include all of our cooperating companies. Please do not apply directly to the cooperating companies on the list (unless it is explicitly stated). As a rule, the cooperation companies have commissioned VICTORIA with the pre-selection of applicants.

If I have applied for a dual study place at VICTORIA, does this automatically mean that I will be placed at one of the VICTORIA cooperation companies?

No, placement cannot be guaranteed. VICTORIA first checks the application documents. If the documents are complete and the entry requirements are met, the application will be forwarded to one or more of our partner companies. It is not automatically guaranteed that your application will be considered or forwarded to a specific VICTORIA partner company. The decision on the allocation of dual study places in the company is made by the cooperation company itself. VICTORIA decides on your admission to the university.

Can I also look for a cooperation company myself?

Yes, you should also apply to companies on your own initiative. If you bring a company with you, this will increase your chances of getting a dual study place at VICTORIA.

Does the company have to be a cooperation partner of VICTORIA?

No, you can also look for and suggest new companies that can then become VICTORIA cooperation companies, provided they meet VICTORIA’s criteria.

How do I find a suitable company?

For the cooperating companies listed on our website, the placement process is handled by VICTORIA (unless it is explicitly stated that direct applications are welcome). Most of our partner companies are interested in new applicants who would like to start there as first semester students at the beginning of the next semester or the semester after next. Dual students who are already studying can only be placed by VICTORIA in exceptional cases if a cooperation company is explicitly looking for students from higher semesters. The main responsibility for finding a new partner company therefore lies with you. However, you are welcome to contact VICTORIA’s Student Services if you have any questions.

What requirements must the company fulfill?

The company must prove that the students will be deployed in all relevant areas during their dual study program and that they will have access to company contact persons. In addition, the company must follow the VICTORIA framework plan for the respective degree program or specialization. Companies can obtain further information on this from the Student and Company Service on request.

Is it possible to change the cooperating company in the dual study model?

The plan is for you to stay with a cooperating company for the entire duration of your studies. If there are any problems between you and your partner company or you no longer want to or can no longer work there for other reasons, VICTORIA’s Student Services will be happy to talk to you in person. You can discuss your situation and look for solutions together with us. Resigning should only be the last step if all other options have been exhausted. In principle, however, you can change the cooperating company during your studies. In this case, you would have to look for a new cooperation company independently and/or contact us within the specified period. Please note that you must not be without a cooperation company for a long period of time so that you do not lose your dual student status. If you are unable to find a new partner company, you also have the option of switching to the full-time attendance or distance learning model at the start of the new semester. This would not extend the duration of your studies at VICTORIA.

The VICTORIA Student and Company Service will be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you would like to have a personal consultation with us on site, then come to our open consultation hours in Berlin on Wednesdays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. or make an appointment with us.

How do I find a new cooperation company if I want to change?

For the cooperating companies listed on our website, the placement process is handled by VICTORIA (unless it is explicitly stated that direct applications are welcome). Most of our partner companies are interested in new applicants who would start there as first-semester students at the beginning of the next semester or the semester after next. Dual students who are already studying can only be placed by VICTORIA in exceptional cases if a cooperation company is explicitly looking for students from higher semesters. The main responsibility for finding a new cooperation company therefore lies with you. However, you are welcome to contact our Student Services if you have any questions.
